Tina Michiko Kashiwagi is a Japanese & Vietnamese American interdisciplinary artist residing in Berkeley, California. Experimentation plays a crucial role in Kashiwagi’s work which often tells personal stories such as her cultural heritage and struggles with mental illness. She aims to create dream-like environments that induce viewers to feel a sense of nostalgia. Recently she has been most interested in exploring the realm of performance art. Kashiwagi received her BFA in Art Education at San Francisco State University and contributes to the visual direction of Oakland art collective, Macro Waves. Her work has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle.
